Flinging Flaming Halflings

Author's Foreward:  Since announcing I was going to play a halfling in the Greyhawk campaign, various members of my group have had a lot of fun describing how well Halflings can be flung -- especially when on fire.  I guess it has to do with a particular character in a campaign before I joined the group.   Anway, after much unsucessful protest I have decided I should at least make sure they do it right.  So . . .

Basic Principles

The flingability and flamability of halfling characters is a subject worthy of many great volumes of lore.  This small treastise only hopes to scratch the surface of this nobel work.  As such, many things will necessarily be overlooked or not signifcantly expanded upon.

That halflings are flingable is a much understood fact of their nature.  Standing on average only 3 feet tall and weighing in around 50 pounds, they are more compact and less massive than many other articles used for large scale missile attacks.  They are not, however, ideal for this use as will be discussed later.

The flamability of halflings is another matter.  Being resistant to many forms of magic, it is strongly suggested that they be set aflame by more conventional means.  Fireplaces and alcohol (both of which are generally available where halflings gather) can be useful -- although oil is even better!  Among the various subraces, Hairfeet (with the abundance of hair) burn best while Stout halflings are least satisfactory in this regard.
